Biography

Dr Hong (Marco) Peng is a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Chemical Engineering at The University of Queensland and leads the Sustainable Extraction Engineering Lab. His research examines crystallisation, nucleation and process engineering for sustainable resource recovery. His projects include mine-waste utilisation, urban mining and the transformation of spent batteries and solar panels into valuable materials. He also investigates connections between critical-metal recovery and carbon capture and utilisation, bringing chemical engineering approaches to circular resource systems.
