Prof. Caitlin Byrt

Biography

Professor Caitlin Byrt is a researcher in the Research School of Biology at the Australian National University and a group leader in membrane transport engineering. Her work investigates membrane proteins and transport processes to advance selective separation, nutrient recovery and crop resilience. She co-founded Membrane Transporter Engineers, which develops engineered protein components for filtration and resource recovery from complex aqueous streams. Her research connects plant biology and biotechnology with sustainable treatment technologies, including applications in water quality and critical-resource recovery.
